Woodard & Curran Foundation Funds Projects to Address Climate Change

Founded in 1998, RMC Water and Environment has provided water and wastewater design and water resource planning services to cities and communities throughout California. In November, 2016, RMC Water and Environment was acquired by Woodard & Curran, an engineering firm based in Maine. Woodard & Curran prides itself on creating a workplace that attracts talented and committed people, and is devoted to giving back to the community. These efforts include operating the Woodard & Curran Foundation, which provides grants to organizations working towards a healthier world and a more sustainable environment.

The foundation’s grants include a 3-year impact grant totaling $100,000 over three consecutive years. The grant funds projects that address climate change-related water issues by applying innovative technology. In 2016, this grant was awarded to the University of Rhode Island Foundation to fund the design of sustainable water systems. The project will attempt to develop a Community Climate Change Strategy (CCCS) to provide safe drinking water to communities across the world. It will begin by improving the effectiveness of the CCCS by setting up a water system for a new school in the Dominican Republic.
